Hospice House

Terry Heineman and Tammy Vincena from Eagle Systems Inc. were honored on March 9th 2010 to present Hospice and Mr. Sam Brown with ACTS ( A Community That Shares) each with a donation from the 2009 Annual Eagle Systems Golf Tournament. A tour of the facility and view of what donations like those from Eagle Systems go towards was given.
Hospice House of
St. Mary's is the first of its kind in the county, thanks to the many community
members and organizations that helped to turn the vision of a hospice house into
a reality. At times, individuals with terminal illnesses have special needs that
cannot be attended to in their own homes. For these individuals, the Hospice
House offers assistance and a place to call home.
The house, located on 23 acres of wooded land in Callaway, offers a
country kitchen, a great room, a dining room for special family gatherings and a
meditation room. Spacious private bedrooms include a large bathroom, a hospital
bed, double sleeper sofa for family wishing to stay in the same room during the
final days and comfortable seating, as well as French doors to private patios
and/or a huge deck overlooking the grounds.
For most people, the ideal setting is their own home. However, not everyone has the support or resources to stay at home. Hospice House of St. Mary's brings the expertise of hospice care into the warm and welcoming environment of a home setting. It gives hospice patients and families a place that provides 24-hour, high quality, compassionate end-of-life care and is a place of dignity, comfort and peace.
Hospice of St. Mary’s provides care regardless of a patient’s ability to pay. Volunteers are also needed to prepare meals, maintain cleanliness, do errands and maintain the yard. To learn more about how you can help Hospice, visit www.smhwecare.com/hospice.html
