St. Mary's Hospital Auxiliary has honored Eagle employee, Rosemary Cox, as the Auxilian of the Year. Rosemary has been a volunteer in the hospital gift shop for more than 15 years, assisted in the recruitment of new auxiliary members, chaired the 2007 and 2008 Christmas Bazaars, volunteered at the annual Auxiliary Golf tournament, and worked at Belk on Charity Days on behalf of the hospital. American Diabetes Association
Diabetes is becoming the new American health epidemic of the century. Consider these facts:
· The incidence of diabetes has increased by 61 percent since 1990 and continues to rise at an alarming rate.
· More than 20.8 million Americans have diabetes - including more than five million who don't even know it.
· An additional 54 million people have pre-diabetes, putting them at great risk for developing Type 2 diabetes.
· One out of every three Americans born in the year 2000 will develop diabetes.
· More than $132 billion direct and indirect healthcare costs are attributed to diabetes (2002 statistics).
These numbers are staggering, but there is something we can do about it. Sam Gillette, one of our Virginia Beach employees, will ride in the 2009 Tour de Cure on April 18. Last year, in the 2008 event, over 650 registered riders raised more than $275,000. Sam's team alone exceeded their goal of $15,000 and they're hoping they can count on your support this year! Walk for Hospice
The 14th Annual Run & Walk for Hospice event was held Saturday, April 18th. Many Eagle Systems employees participated in this wonderful community event again this year.
For the fifth consecutive year, Eagle Systems will sponsor the River Concert Series. This year's concert series will begin June 19 and 20 with a Maryland 375th Birthday Weekend Celebration. Leonardtown High School Band Boosters Yard Sale
Thanks to all of employees at Eagle Systems who supported this successful fundraiser. A special thanks to Mr. Peeling for the use of the Eagle Systems corporate facility to host the sale. The Band was able to raise over $1,200 to support the band program.
Golf Tournament
The 12th Annual Eagle Systems Golf Tournament to benefit Hospice of St. Mary's and ACTS (A Community That Shares) will be held on Friday, 24 July 2009 at Wicomico Shores Golf Course. Registration is $60 per player. Please contact Terry Heineman for more information.
